Midwest Testing is a full-service geotechnical, environmental, and materials engineering consulting firm providing field exploration, laboratory testing, engineering analysis, and construction observation services.

The firm was formed in 1985 and is headed by Mr. Richard D. Laughlin, P.E., President of the firm. Previously, Mr. Laughlin was partner in a firm providing geotechnical and water supply services. His experience in geotechnical and environmental engineering totals more than 31 years.

The environmental and materials groups are headed by Mr. Daniel J. Barczykowski, P.E., who brings 21 years of experience to his position.

The environmental group is also headed by Mr. Andrew J. McCord, MSC, who brings a solid 30 years of experience to the company.

Midwest Testing’s newly built headquarters in St. Louis, Missouri is a two-story structure combining 14,000 square feet of office space with 11,000 square feet of lab and support area. The state-of-the-art lab space boasts new and innovative equipment and provides an ideal backdrop for testing soil, concrete, asphalt and other materials used in foundations and commercial building surfaces.

This contemporary headquarters provides new capabilities in planning, exploration, observation, and testing services, which prove critical to successful project completion. We offer a multitude of testing and support services to our clients, including feasibility studies, geotechnical explorations, environmental assessments, engineering design, and consultation services. We provide extensively trained personnel and modern testing equipment to verify compliance of soils, concrete, asphalt, steel, roofing, and fireproofing with your project requirements. We can bring our services to remote sites with our mobile soils and concrete labs, and our rough terrain utility vehicles.
